Nitrogen Metabolism Antibodies in Plants
The mechanisms by which nitrogen is changed into different chemical forms within living organisms are referred to as nitrogen metabolism.
Amino acids, nucleotides, and other macromolecules all
include nitrogen, which is why it is so important for the development and
maintenance of living cells.
In organisms, ammonia (NH3), ammonium ions (NH4+), or
nitrate ions are the main forms of nitrogen that are taken up from the
environment (NO3-).
By a series of enzyme activities, these nitrogen sources are
ingested by cells and changed into different forms.
The breakdown of ingested protein into amino acids and
subsequent protein synthesis or catabolism of amino acids for energy constitute
nitrogen
metabolism in animals.
Urea and other nitrogenous waste products are expelled as an
excretion of extra nitrogen. For more details read here Nitrogen
